Looking back over each season as the next one approaches is something I just love to do. It gives me time to reflect and be thankful for the experiences I’ve had, as well as a chance to start planning for what lies ahead in the next few months.
With the official start of Summer just around the corner, what better time to glance back at Spring and give it a fond farewell. The cherry blossoms are no longer scattered all over the ground, the temps have definitely risen, and the beaches are packed. But while all the flowers were blooming and sweet smells filled the air, here’s what I was up to:
Read: I’m not normally one for non-fiction, but Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me was a humorous and fun change of pace. Wild was uplifting. Got my art/NYC fix with The Goldfinch, although it’s definitely a lengthy one (beautifully detailed writing, though). I simply could not stop listening to Dear Daughter because I was so entranced with the fast-paced and witty story, not to mention the narrator. And finally, I just finished Breakfast at Tiffany’s because, why not? I wanted something short and easy. The hopeless romantic in me prefers the film version though.
Saw: Been re-watching some good-for-the-soul series: Gilmore Girls, Friends, and The Office on Netflix. As far as movies are concerned, I saw To Catch a Thief which I loved. (See here) I’m glad I read Wild before watching the film so I knew more background, but it was good. I.Q. was a typical, but adorable romantic comedy. And Oldboy kept you on your toes, but the twist was not ideal.
Listened: I broke down and finally bought the new(-ish) Taylor Swift album “1989”. But also, The Lively Show podcast. I’ve still been pouring through audiobooks too. As far as music, I have a massive go-to playlist. Some of the recent songs I’ve added to that I put together for you here. Had to use a cover of “Wildest Dreams” from Taylor Swift, but you’ll get the gist.
Planned: Some down time for myself, ideas for where I want to take the blog, a new workout regiment, a celebratory 4th of July weekend, and a fun dinner for my dad and J’s upcoming birthdays.
Dreamed: Of calmer days by the sea and longer weekends.
Visited: Had a magical staycation at Disney World with my family, Spent a lovely weekend touring Raleigh; took a road trip through Jacksonville, Atlanta, Nashville, and St. Louis; celebrated a wedding in SoFlo, and relaxed in Miami during the long Memorial Day Weekend. What a busy Spring is has been!
